This course is a mandatory requirement for the relevant HETAS Competent Persons' Scheme from June 2014 and must be completed at least once every five years.
A practical course for existing HETAS registered installers; the H003 Refresher covers the installation of dry appliances and is required to keep your Competent Persons’ Scheme registration up to date. Designed to ensure you are aware of and understand all relevant changes that have been made within the last five years to the following areas: Building Regulations; Health and Safety; BS EN legislation and technical standards; calculations concerning air and flue requirements; commissioning and handover. You are required to confirm your competence through practical and theoretical assessment.
This one day course is composed of a preliminary test to measure the skill set and competency level of each candidate. Following successful completion of the test, candidates will be allowed to take formal assessment. Those candidates who are unsuccessful in either the test or the assessment must take the next available option 2 course to progress.
This two day course includes initial class room based refresher training on the installation of dry appliances and utilises the training manual for the full H003 course. Day two of the refresher course comprises theoretical and practical assessment.

Installation engineers, or those who already work within the solid fuel, construction or heating industry who have not completed refresher training within the last five years and are registered under the HETAS Competent Persons' Scheme.
